Cwtch y Môr is a privately-owned three-bedroom coastal home overlooking the sea and mountains.
Wake to the view. Walk to the beach. Return to comfort.
From the moment you arrive in Trearddur Bay, everything slows down. The coastline stretches wide, the air feels cleaner, and the sea becomes the backdrop to every part of your stay.
The view is constantly changing. Some days the sea is wild and dramatic, with waves rolling in across the bay. Other days it turns calm and glass-like, reflecting the sky and sparkling magically in a way that feels almost unreal.
It’s the kind of place you naturally pause for, even if you weren’t planning to.
In the mornings, the sunrise breaks gently over the mountains, casting soft light across the landscape and filling the apartment with a warm glow. In the evenings, the sky transforms depending on the season. In winter, the sun sets over the sea to the front of the apartment, frequently creating dramatic skys. In summer, the sunset shifts behind to Holyhead mountain -Mynydd Twr .
It’s never repetitive. It’s always moving. And that’s what makes it memorable.

“Cwtch y Môr” is Welsh and loosely translates to “a hug or cuddle by the sea” or “a cosy place by the sea.”
The word cwtch (pronounced “kutch”) is a uniquely Welsh term that means more than just a hug it’s a feeling of warmth, comfort and safety. It perfectly captures the relaxed, homely atmosphere of staying by the coast in Trearddur Bay.
Access to the apartment is via one flight of stairs. However, stair-free access is available by walking around the building to the rear and following the balcony walkway to the entrance.
This means it may be suitable for guests using a wheelchair or mobility scooter, or those who prefer to avoid stairs, provided the additional distance is manageable.
Inside, the layout is on one level and generally accessible. The en-suite shower has a small step, and the family bathroom has a shower over the bath, which may be less suitable for guests requiring fully step-free facilities.
If you have specific accessibility needs, please get in touch before booking and we’ll be happy to help you decide if Cwtch y Môr is the right fit for your stay.

Cwtch y Môr is located on Lon Isallt, one of the most scenic coastal roads in Trearddur Bay, with views across the bay as you arrive.
As you come into Trearddur Bay, you’ll be driving down Lon St Ffraid. From here, turn onto Lon Isallt — on the right if you’re coming from Holyhead, or on the left if you’re coming from Valley.
Continue along Lon Isallt, following the coastline. You’ll pass the lifeboat station on your left, along with Trearddur Bay beach, while the football pitch sits on your right-hand side. Keep going past the Trearddur Bay Hotel on your right, and the car park on the corner as the road bends around the bay.
Stay on this road as it curves, passing several smaller bays along the way. Shortly after, you’ll come to a distinctive house on your right known locally as “Smiley’s” or the spooky/haunted house. Its proper name is Craig Y Môr, and it’s well known in the area.
When you are level with it, you’ll see the entrance to Plas Darien on the right, next to Trearddur Bungalows (also known as Hoesasons).
Drive between the two stone pillars into the entrance. Do not follow the road round to the left. Instead, continue straight ahead up the private drive. Although it can feel like a one-way road, it is actually two-way, so take your time and proceed carefully.
Follow the drive up the hill and you’ll see the Plas Darien building directly in front of you at the top. Cwtch y Môr is located to the right hand side of the building above 38 on The Bay.
Direct bookings always receive the most competitive rate, handled personally by the owner.
